Ascot 2022: Racegoers try to keep cool in 32C heat as men can remove ties for first time

It’s another heat shock at the Berkshire venue, with temperatures set to reach 32C by the afternoon – but thankfully organizers relaxed today’s notoriously strict dress code
Royal Ascot racegoers have arrived for day four with fabulous headgear and elaborate fans to try and protect themselves from the scorching weather.
The annual Berkshire event attracts well-dressed famous faces and this year was no exception.
Carrie Johnson, the wife of the Prime Minister, was already seen on Friday in a classy cream-colored outfit on the premises.
It’s another source of fire at the venue on what is now officially the hottest day of the year, with temperatures expected to reach 32C by the afternoon – uncomfortably hot if you’re wearing a suit.
But in a rare move, organizers have eased the notoriously strict dress code.
A Royal Ascot spokesman said: “The dress code has been relaxed – meaning racegoers will be expected to arrive in conformance but may remove jackets and ties due to high temperatures throughout the day.
“We also allow guests in all enclosures to bring water and soft drinks on site.”
