Ask Italian opens community concept restaurant in Horsham

A RESTAURANT chain has opened its first Community Concept restaurant in Sussex.

Ask Italian’s Horsham branch has reopened after a refurbishment and is the first of its kind.

Ask said it has a community focus and plans to roll out the new concept to all restaurants across the country.

It has worked with residents and producers to create a “sustainability-focused space” and menu “intended to bring the people of Horsham together”.

The Argos:

Ask Italian has worked closely with artisan producers in Horsham to bring a local touch to the menu.

Horsham Spirit Gin is now featured in its Lemon Drop Spritz cocktail and there is a selection of locally brewed Firebird beers.

The revamped menu also supports the Horsham Matters food bank through donations and volunteerism.

The Argos:

Horsham-born artist Sam Flylightly was commissioned to create artworks throughout the restaurant, celebrating the town’s similarities with the picturesque Italian town of Lerici.

Sam has also created portraits of Horsham heroes including Percy Shelley, the town’s literary great, and Katie Kirk, the digital content creator. She lives with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which causes very flexible joints and sensitive skin, and blogs to raise awareness of this condition.

The Argos:

The updated menu supports Ask Italian’s sustainability goal and encourages customers to swap out dishes to reduce the carbon footprint of meals.

In partnership with Foodsteps, an eco-friendly food advisory service, the restaurant allows customers to see the impact of switching to plant-based options.

The Argos:

General Manager Rafik Saoud said: “Horsham is a special place with a whole mix of people coming together in the city.

“We are so proud to reopen our restaurant with new features that celebrate our locals and can’t wait to hear their thoughts.

“I love Sam’s artwork on the walls leading upstairs and would personally recommend the new cheese fondue which looks really special.

The Argos:

“It’s great to have Firebird on the menu as our guest beer to celebrate what they do in the community.”

To celebrate the launch, Ask Italian is hosting an event with Horsham fundraisers and business owners being among the first to be invited to enjoy the restaurant on Thursday. Ask Italian opens community concept restaurant in Horsham
