It’s known as Harly, after Batman villain Harley Quinn (although spelled differently).

However, experts suspect that the actual figure could be even higher.

The apps have been removed from the App Store, but if you’ve already downloaded one it might be too late – in which case you should delete them immediately.

How does the Harly Trojan work?

Harly is quite similar to another notorious trojan called Jocker Trojan Subscriber.

The reason it’s so bad is that it subtly subscribes you to paid services without you even knowing.

Hackers achieve this by modifying some of the technologies in the app’s code to fool your phone.

That way it can then secretly get security codes for text messages you use to sign up for things.

Which apps are affected by the Harly Trojan?

Around 190 apps with the Trojan hidden in them have been discovered since 2020.

According to that Daily expressThey include:

  • Pony Camera
  • Live Wallpaper & Theme Launcher
  • Action Launchers & Wallpapers
  • color call
  • Good launcher
  • Mondy widgets
  • Funcalls Voice Changer
  • Eve Launcher
  • Newlook launcher
  • Pixel screen wallpaper
