Assassin’s Creed Goes Dark With New Game Codenamed “Witch”

A NEW Assassin’s Creed is in development and will take on a “very different,” darker tone than other games in the series.

Ubisoft, the developer of the Assassin’s Creed series, announced a series of new games in a showcase on Saturday.

This darker game is codenamed Hexe – the German word for “witch”.

It is developed by Ubisoft Montréal – the studio behind Assassin’s Creed 2, Black Flag and the latest release Valhalla.

Clint Hocking, the creative director behind Far Cry 2 and Watch Dogs: Legion, will be leading this one.

Very little is known about Hexe, including the plot, setting, or time period.

However, executive producer Marc-Alexis Côté said it will be “a very different kind of Assassin’s Creed game.”

We were treated to a very short teaser for Hexe, set in a dark, spooky forest.

In it we could see a hanging bundle of branches in the shape of the Assassin’s Creed logo.

Even though the trailer was so short, it was enough to capture our imaginations of what the upcoming game could be.

Since the codename is German, there is speculation that it could take place in one of the German-speaking countries in Central Europe.

Witch hunts were popular in this region between 1580 and 1630 and may be the time period for the forthcoming game.

Before Hexe and Project Red were announced, many believed that the next big Assassin’s Creed game would be called Infinity.

It was rumored that Infinity would feature various time locations from the series as well as live service elements.

Côté revealed that Infinity is actually real. However, it is not a game as many thought.

He said: “Infinity is not a game per se. It will be the only entry point for our fans into the game Assassin’s Creed franchises in the future.

“[It’s] will be a hub that will bring all of our different experiences and our players together in a meaningful way.”

Infinity is intended to be a social media hub where major franchise releases will eventually connect via multiplayer experiences.
