Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are using a £2,000-a-night Hilton hotel as their base during this year’s Invictus Games.

The royal couple are staying at a chic hotel in the middle of The Hague for the event.

Email online reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex booked into the Dutch hotel with their team after arriving in the city.

They include former US President bodyguard Christopher Sanchez, who is protecting the couple.

The luxurious royal suite they stay in has a king-size bed and two showers, as well as breathtaking views of the city.

Harry and Meghan could have accessed the suite directly from an underground car park via a private elevator.

It was also reported that the hotel had closed its Executive Lounge from Wednesday to Saturday so the couple could use it for meetings with their assistants.

Today, in a speech on BBC’s One Show, Prince Harry praised the “extraordinary” dedication of Ukrainians taking part in the Games.

The 37-year-old said the games “wouldn’t be the same” without the Ukraine team, many of whom he revealed had served in some capacity in the war effort before leaving.

He said: “The whole world is definitely behind Ukraine, but is that enough again?

“Because when you see them and talk to them and see in their eyes the experiences and things that they’ve just seen in the last few weeks.

“It’s really hard. It’s emotional to think that they all jumped on the bus, first they had to make the decision to come, which was hard enough anyway.

“Then they jumped on the bus, probably slept the whole time, and I think what people need to remember or don’t even know is that the vast majority of the Ukrainian team served in some form or form.

“So they took off their uniforms, put on their team jerseys, jumped on the bus, came here, slept for a couple of days, tried to decompress and went straight in, and then they have to go back.

“That’s why I think it’s extraordinary to have her here. And this commitment they made to leave their country, which is really hard for them to decide.

“But they came with their president’s blessing and I don’t think these games would have been the games they are without Team Ukraine.”

He also revealed that the Ukrainian team had lost four members of their community due to the war.

Archery instructor Dmytro Sydoruk was killed earlier this month fighting in the war.

Team members Dmytro Oliynyk and Vladimir Motelchuk were both tragically killed in rocket attacks on Mykolaiv on March 29.

Another team member, Sergey Smilin, died on March 18 on duty.

He added: “Well, I think it really just brings home what’s going on across Europe right now. We have over 500 competitors here with different stories and backgrounds. But in the end we all stand together.”

A staffer told the Mail: “We know they stayed here but it’s all confidential and we’ve been told not to speak to anyone about them.”

According to reports, Harry and Meghan left the hotel for Amsterdam on Sunday evening.

From there, Meghan took a commercial flight back to Los Angeles to be reunited with her three children.

A source told the Mail that the prince was filming footage for Netflix, which was making a documentary about the games as part of the £100m deal with the streaming giant.

Since arriving in Holland, the couple have traveled around in a three-car convoy.

On its website, the hotel described the Royal Suite as “true luxury.”

The suite covers 1,506 sqm with a private bedroom and spacious living and dining areas.

It continues: “The suite is located on the top floor of the hotel and offers an impressive view of the city from the private terrace.

“Have an informal meeting in the meeting area and enjoy the convenience of an additional toilet just off the living area.

“The spacious bathroom features Ecosmart technology and two rainforest showers. Special touches include fluffy bathrobes and slippers, a Nespresso machine and a docking station.”
