Police have launched an investigation after an ATM was stolen from a gas station in the early hours of this morning.

Two men were seen loading the machine onto a pick-up truck from the Ansty Cross Service Station on Cuckfield Road on Haywards Heath.

The vehicle, described as a gray or black off-road-style jeep, then pulled off the A272 towards Bolney.

Officials have conducted an extensive house-to-house investigation and are now urging anyone with information about the incident, which took place around 3am on December 1, to come forward.

The two men were dressed in dark clothing and wore balaclavas.

Chief Inspector Ben Starns of the Crawley Neighborhood Policing Team said: “This appears to be a pre-planned and targeted attack and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area.

“In particular, we want to hear from anyone who may have seen a vehicle matching the description or captured it with a dash cam.

“It’s possible it went up the A23 via the A272.”

Anyone with information that may assist the police investigation is urged to report this online or call 101, quoting serial number 126 dated 01/12. to specify.
