Australia’s prime minister has flattened a young boy under eight in a training game as he made unwanted headlines in the country’s election campaign.
Scott Morrison was floating in a sweeper position while participating in a children’s game in Tasmania, but as he shuffled to the left he lost his balance and landed on top of the small child.
After being downed, little Luca Fauvette, who plays under eight for Devonport Strikers FC, looked stunned but then saw the funny side.
Australia’s Prime Minister was in Tasmania on the election lane and attended the training match with budding footballers for what appeared to be an easy photo op.
But even if the game didn’t go according to plan, there was a smile on the lips afterwards.

“I’m surprised he wasn’t taken to hospital,” laughed Mr Morrison.
He also chatted with the parents and children while delivering a speech promising to invest in gaming facilities.
“I look forward to coming back on another occasion,” he told parents and children, reported news.com.au.
“I think if that bleacher falls down, I’m hearing that it might take some kind of bulldozer to bring it down, so maybe I can help with that.”
The football fight has now gone viral on social media, with the Prime Minister also writing on Facebook: “Shout to young Luca for being such a good sport.

“You may have seen we had a minor collision at club practice at Devonport Strikers Football Club in Tasmania tonight. I spoke to Luca and his mum Ali tonight to check on him and he was in good shape.”
“It’s great to be able to chat with him about his love of football and to hear that he has already scored three hat-tricks in his burgeoning career.”
The incident was similar to Boris Johnson apologizing to a schoolboy after bumping him on the shoulder during a “friendly” rugby match during a business trip to Japan.
When he was Mayor of London in 2015, he knocked Toki Sekiguchi – aged just 10 – to the ground as he ran with the ball.

Dressed in suit trousers and shirt, Mr Johnson was filmed making a pass and then charging down the wing.
With his head down, he runs towards the boy and then trips and crashes into him, throwing him to the ground.
The current prime minister also stayed on the ground with his arms spread, but still held on to the ball.
And it wasn’t the first time Mr Johnson had had a sporting mishap with a schoolboy, when he tripped over a nine-year-old boy during a football match in London in 2014.
The then-mayor could be seen grabbing the football but instead managed to trip the child.
