Austria beat Norway 1-0 on the Amex at Euro 2022

The Amex staged an Austrian festival – and even more misery for Norway.

Nicole Billa knocked out the two-time Euro 2022 champions as Austria booked a quarter-final game with Germany.

Billa’s first-half header secured Austria a 1-0 win, although even a draw would have been enough to clinch second place in Group A.

It was the Austrians’ first success against the Norwegians.

The win was no more than deserved as Norway failed to recover from their 8-0 defeat of England at Albion’s home ground four nights earlier.

They might have lost even worse if not for the efforts of goalkeeper Guro Pettersen.

An enthusiastic crowd of 12,667 watched Austria control things until a late, desperate rally in Norway where Manuela Zinsberger thwarted Celin Bizet and Ada Hegerberg. Austria beat Norway 1-0 on the Amex at Euro 2022
