AUTHOR Cathy Kelly has become the first dancer to be eliminated from tonight’s fifth series of Dancing With The Stars.
The writer got 15 points for dancing the tango to Blondie’s Call Me with her Italian maestro Maurizio Benenato.
Cathy told The Irish Sun: “It was a great experience. I just feel like I let him (dance partner Maurizio Benenato) down, he’s such a great teacher. I feel like I failed in some way.
But look someone has to go, but better than one of the young people to go. It will be devastating for them.”
The 55-year-old was in the final three with Missy Keating and Grainne Seoige but the writer was ultimately eliminated.

Cathy told us, “I’m editing a book at the moment so my publisher is probably glad I’m out.
“I’ve dropped two skirt sizes since I started working out in November.”
Commenting on her tango on Blondie’s Call Me, judge Brian Redmond quipped: “Maybe it’s a bit too much Debbie Harry, not Dirty Harry. It’s fine, but doesn’t quite make my day. “

Country judge Loraine Barry said: “The position is very good, the heart rate of the tango is slow and fast, if we could have made it a little clearer, it would have been better.”
Third panelist Arthur Gourounlian was more positive: “You have passion, I’m not talking about your writing, I’m talking about your dancing.”
Co-host Jennifer Zamperelli went missing on tonight’s show after testing positive for Covid.

And the winner of Dancing With The Stars 2020 Lottie Ryan proved a sparkle With some wondering if Gerry Ryan and Jennifer’s daughter could be a couple one day, Nicky Byrne should return to touring with Westlife.
Paralympic swimmers Ellen Keane and Stephen Vincent hit the dance floor for the first time to perform their cha cha cha.
And the judges were impressed with their moves, calling them the ‘gold standard.’
Judge Lorraine Barry said: “He’s a great father-in-law.”
“It was very sexy and very exciting,” said Arthur.
“The gold standard in the pool and almost the gold standard in the floor,” said Brian Redmond. The talented Ellen is scored 21.
Next up was Ex RTE newsreader, Angus Mac Grianna, waltzing You Don’t Know Me By Now with dance partner Emily Barker.

Lorraine is a bit frustrated when he says, “You need more turns.” Arthur said: “I can’t feel it tonight, you need it harder and deeper. But you guys gave your all, that’s what the show is about.”
“Your right arm is too low, the steps are fine, but your upper half needs to work,” says Brian. Aengus scored 11 points.
Comedian Neil Delamere wearing dungarees danced Charleston with his dance master Kylee Vincent, scoring 22 overall.
Brian said: “Funny people can dance a little. It’s funny but not over the top.”
Lorraine said: “You deserve a good performance tonight.
Arthur said: That’s what Charleston was about.. Rock, rock, rock. ”
There was a lot of chemistry when 19-year-old Missy Keating, dancing samba with her dance expert Ervinas Merfeldas, scored an impressive 21.
Arthur felt she could score even higher, saying, “I wish you would give it more”.
“Your technique is there, learn more,” says Brian.
Lorraine: “It was a huge effort.”
At the bottom of the scoreboard, Nicholas Roche and Karen Byrne have everything to prove, and turn their fortunes around dancing the Viennese waltz.
Lorraine said: “Let that body go more”
“You took our criticism and threw it back in our faces,” said Brian. “It’s a solid improvement over what we saw in the first week.”
Arthur said: “I know I have it in you… you’ve impressed me and keep improving”.
Nicholas scored 16. Love Island star Matthew MacNabb danced a jive with co-star Laura
Nolan but again it proved a tall order with less than impressed judges.
“You need to pump more,” says Lorraine.
“It’s your belt that’s so tight that the signal doesn’t reach your legs,” says Brian. You danced but not to the music”.
Arthur said: “It has been delayed, you need to work on your musical ability”
Matthew only scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Grainne Seoige is the woman in red dancing the paso doble for Cliff Richard’s Demon Woman with professional John Nolan.
Another marked improvement on week one – after scoring 17.
“Your feet are absolutely beautiful, but let’s get them out more,” says Lorraine.
Brian said: “Did I hear you roaring in that moment? You definitely captured the atmosphere”.
Arthur said: “Grainne, you made me sweat. You were so confident this week, like a different person.”
Sexy rugby player Jordan Conroy did a quick country jump with Jake Bugg’s Lightning Bolt with partner Salome Chachua and scored 19 points.
“It’s amazing, lots of energy and a little bit of euphoria everywhere,” says Brian.
Lorraine said: “I greeted you too quickly. You lived through each moment.”
Arthur said: “You totally smashed it.. I love euphoria, never mind them.”
Top scorer Erica Cody impressed once again with a confident kick to My Girl with Ukrainian dance champion Denys Samson.
“You’re a born artist,” says Arthur. “The footwork is very good and the points make for the prize,” says Lorraine.
“You’ve got one tough step, but the rest is perfect,” says Brian. Erica scored 23 goals.
Her big rival, former jockey Nina Carberry had a striking figure, dancing the rumba with her pro Pasquale La Rocca, scoring the first nine points of the series and taking 25 overall.
Lorraine said: “It was amazing… A big round of applause”.
“You move like a leopard looking for its prey,” says Arthur.
“It was unexpected for me and very well done,” says Brian.
Meanwhile, musician Billy McGuinness, danced a salsa to Mambo No 5 with his young dance expert Hannah Kelly.
“You’re definitely here for a good time. Not long,” Brian said.
Lorraine added: “This is what you call entertainment… a bit cheesy but everyone loves it.”
Arthur is a huge fan of the ending, saying: “I love cheese.. what a great way to end the show”
Celebrities who survived last night’s elimination will now spend the week practicing and trying to get out of Covid after rugby star Jordan Conroy revealed to the Irish Sun that the show’s stars will be eliminated. if they miss two Sundays in the show and are automatically disqualified if they catch Covid in the past semi-finals.
This weekend as Ireland eases Covid restrictions, celebrities on RTE dance shows have been told there will be no mercy if they socialize, break the rules and catch the virus.
So far Matthew MacNabb, and dance experts Emily Barker, and Laura Nolan have had to miss performances after testing positive.
