WHATSAPP has added a great new feature to the iPhone.
A new update means WhatsApp now supports Apple’s new Focus Mode.
It means you’ll be able to choose which specific contacts can message you in Focus.
Apple introduced Focus Mode with iOS 15 in September.
Smart feature that allows you to filter notifications and apps on your iPhone.
You can set your device with a Custom Spotlight or use a Suggested Spotlight.
That could include Do Not Disturb, Personal, Work or Sleep.
They are suggested based on context, such as during work hours or when you are getting ready for bed.
And if you put Focus on your iPhone, it will transfer to your other Apple devices.
You can create specific Home screen pages with apps and widgets for that Focus – as Apple puts it, “to ease the temptation”.
And if your Focus is blocking incoming notifications, that status will be visible to others in the Messages app.
The new one WhatsApp update update 22.2.75 allows you to choose who can text you when you have set Focus Mode.
So, for example, you can turn off text notifications from working colleagues when work hours are up.
And you can stop texting from friends while you’re at work – except for a partner or close family member, for example.
The idea is that you can have more control over who is filling out your message.
If you are a regular WhatsApp user, you may receive hundreds of notifications on the app every day.
So by limiting these depending on what you’re doing, you can make owning an iPhone a much more peaceful experience.
One more thing…
The app update also introduces the ability to pause and resume while recording voice messages.
That means you can stop recording if you lose focus and then resume when you’ve figured out what to say.
You can try this by swiping up to lock the recording, then tapping the “pause” and “resume” buttons.
Importantly, to use either of these new features, you need to update your WhatsApp app.
To do this, go to the Apple App Store, tap your profile picture, then scroll down until you see WhatsApp and tap Update.
If you don’t see an option to update, you probably did – or it was automatically updated for you.
You’ll also need to update your iPhone to iOS 15 for Focus Mode to work.
Go to Settings > General > Software Update to update your iPhone or check its version.
