The most popular baby names change from year to year – so what will top the list for 2022?

Word study Children’s Center revealed the baby names to be identified this year.

For the girls, at the top of the list is Hazel, which is a new entry on the 2021 top 100 list and we think will continue to be a favorite.

Topping the list of boys is Albie, an alpine climber who is expected to become even more famous.


The second biggest girls name in 2022 is Olive, which is also a new entry on the 2021 top 100 list and we think will continue to be a favorite.

The guy who came in second was Reggie, another high-altitude climber that many assumed would continue to rise.

The third most popular girl name in 2022 is Iris, a new entry on the 2021 top 100 list and many predict it will continue to increase.

Rounding out the top three boys is Frankie which many also think would be in the top because it’s male.

Nellie just got rid of the top five, comes in fourth and means horn, sunbeam or glare but could be a nickname for Helen, Ellen, Petronella, Danielle, Cornelia, Eleanor, Janelle, Chanelle, Penelope or Noelia.

For boys, the name Edwin comes in at number four and mostly means friend, something we all missed out on during the pandemic but it’s also rich and happy.

Regal Elizabeth, in fifth, is probably because the Queen will celebrate her 70th year on the throne this year.

National celebrations and holidays in 2022 could even bring back Royal names like Betty, Eliza, Elsbeth and maybe even some of Lillibet who, like Harry and Meghan’s daughter, will. born.

Marcus is fifth, possibly due to the positive social changes Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford has brought to the kids, as well as scoring.

The World Cup starts in November so football-related names can continue to climb the ranks.

The name Connor is sixth on the list of boys’ names, and can refer to Conor Gallagher, the 21-year-old Chelsea midfielder.

Aaron is seventh and continues the trend of football as it could be related to Aaron Ramsdale, the Arsenal goalkeeper.












Both Ramsdale and Gallagher are newcomers to the England team so perhaps the new England players who get the top spot are the new names.

Mirabel is sixth as the oldest girl’s name, meaning wonder or wondrous beauty and was used for both sexes in medieval times.

It is also the name of the main character in the new Disney movie, Encanto.

The name Penny is the seventh most popular girl name and it means weaver.

Penny is a short version of the name Penelope, which means duck.

Tilly, traditionally the nickname of the name Matilda, is eighth in girls’ names and means Fighting Strength.

Tilly Ramsay also appeared last year, winning the hearts of domestic audiences.

Oakley is an unusual eighth place scorer as it is a naturally based name meaning field of oak, wood and jungle.












Only making it to the top 10, the name Nova is the 9th name of the girls and we usually call it when a star shines suddenly and then slowly returns to its original state over several months.

Felix is ​​ninth and means happiness, luck as well as bringing emotions to cats, due to the cartoon character.

In the Bible, Felix was the Roman governor of Judea.

Billie fills in the top ten girls names and may refer to singer/songwriter Billie Eilish, who is making headlines for both the Glastonbury and Coachella festivals in 2022.

Evan finishes the top ten boys names of 2022 and is a popular Welsh name, meaning ‘God is merciful.’

Dear Evan Hansen is also a musical that has gained popularity recently when the movie version is released in late 2021.
