A badger was found killed and burned then dressed an infant in a horrific act of animal cruelty.

The RSPCA is investigating and hopes to learn more about the “disturbing incident” in Wolverhampton.

The animal welfare charity is hoping to learn more about what it has described as a “disturbing incident”.

Officials from the RSPCA were alerted after a member of the public made the shocking discovery around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, reports Coventry Live.

The badger was found dead along with a badger settlement, which had been deliberately laid down near the Beacon Center in Wolverhampton Road East.

The badly burned mammal was dressed in a growing baby’s clothes with smoking devices placed around the badger’s body.

The charity is launching a call for information, urging anyone with a background on the shocking discovery to contact them.

RSPCA Inspector Laura Brewerton, who is investigating, said: “We are eager to learn more information about this disturbing incident.

“Someone intentionally lit a fire at the entrance to the badger settlement.

“It is extremely disturbing for someone to behave in this way and in relation to how someone tampered with the dead badger carcass.

“The badger was dressed as a child who grew up with a lighter, a cigarette butt and a bottle of lighter fluid left beside its body by the side of the road.

“Whoever did this also intentionally burned the heart shape near the badger with lighter liquid.

“Bags and their parts are protected under the Badger Protection Act. In England and Wales, it is illegal to intentionally kill, injure or take a badger – or knowingly – unless authorized.

“We’d love to hear from anyone with any information who thinks they might help with our investigation, please give us a call.
