BAFTAs: Martin Freeman and Rachel Mariam stand out on the red carpet

Martin Freeman and his girlfriend made a rare red carpet appearance together at the BAFTA TV Awards held at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday night.

The Sherlock star, 50, and actress Rachel Mariam, 50, looked adorable as they posed for the camera in front of the dazzle.

The actor looked dapper in a dark ensemble and covered his eyes with orange sunglasses while Rachel, who appeared on the TV show Ordinary People, looked stunning in a tight pink dress and high boots heels, with colorful eye makeup that matched her dress.

The couple, who have been dating for two years, appeared incredibly happy as they smiled for the cameras at a ceremony honoring the best of television.

In 2016, Martin split with actress Amanda Abbington, with whom he has two children and appeared in several shows, such as Sherlock.

Back in 2018, Amanda shared about her struggle to deal with the breakdown of a relationship.

She told Red Magazine that she thought Martin was the love of her life, but their relationship fell apart and led to “one of the darkest moments” of her life.

She added: “We still love each other – even if we’re not – and neither of us consider our relationship a failure.

“We’ve had 16 wonderful years together and have two beautiful kids. We still talk and give each other advice.”

In a 2017 interview with Radio TimesMartin similarly describes how the former couple was friendly with each other.

“We broke up a while ago,” he said. “I mean, we’re so friendly and we’re all so lovely and amazing. Yeah, we haven’t been together in a while. I mean, we didn’t do the movie together.

“I’m fine, yeah. I mean, we’re honest with God when we do it [separating] in a civilized way as I’ve heard, you know.

“I love Amanda’s job. I think she’s brilliant as an actress and she’s amazing as a woman and, yes, I love her. I will always love Amanda, but, yeah, we… you know, that’s what happened.”

Mr Selfridge star Amanda is now engaged to Britain’s Got Talent star Jonathan Goodwin, and recently revealed he is paralyzed for life after his appearance on America’s Got Talent went horribly wrong.

Welsh daredevil Jonathan has fallen into critical condition after plunging 30 meters into the ground during a suspended stunt.

Instead of landing on the air mattress that was supposed to cause him to fall, he ended up sandwiched between two cars while wearing a straight jacket, then caught fire.

Speaking on the Out to Lunch podcast by restaurant critic Jay Rayner, Amanda said it was unlikely Jonathan would walk again.

She continued: “He was paralyzed now he is in a wheelchair. Unless there’s some kind of stem cell surgery or something Elon Musk is designing with a small chip, he’s going to be.”
