Bake Off viewers ‘turned off’ in series when Stacey Solomon hosted the show

Bake Off: The Professionals returns to Channel 4 on Tuesday night, with new host Stacey Solomon leading the show after beloved host Tom Allen announced his departure from the show.

Liam Charles has joined the 32-year-old Loose Women star as the search for Britain’s best baking team begins for their latest series.

But Channel 4 viewers were quick to complain about the Tom-sized hole in the show’s lineup.

As the show got underway, fans took to Twitter to react to Stacey’s replacement of Tom as co-host of Bake Off The Professionals.

One person wrote: “I’m so sorry and I really like Stacey, but that’s not from me. I will record and use fast forward a lot. It’s sad that I LOVE this show. ”

Another posted: “No no no what did you do I can’t watch this with Stacey to me her voice is like nails on a blackboard.”

The third said, “Oh no. New presenter on Bake Off The Professionals. Turned it off already. ”

One fan wrote: “Pourquoi le Solomon? Je suis not app! ” before another wrote: “I like Stacey but I don’t think the baking experts are right for her.”

Some fans have been calling for Tom’s return to the show, with one writing: “Wait for what’s going on.”

Another tweeted: “You swapped the wrong host! Bring back Tom Allen! ”

Another wrote: “Um, hi where is Tom on Bake Off The Professionals nothing against Stacey Solomon but love Tom Allen.”

One fan tweeted: “Seriously? You keep Liam and add Stacey Solomon? This is going to be a tough watch.”

Another wrote at the start of the show: “It’s time to Bake the Professionals. I miss Tom Allen but good luck Stacy. ”

“My wife has absolutely no idea who Stacey is. I tried you to explain to her, but realized that I also know the idea. And why is Liam still there? Is it really hard to find someone to host a great show? ” explained one fan.

But some viewers praised Stacey’s choice to host the show, with one line reading: “Love Stacey. I’m so glad GBBO is back. ”

“Stacey Solomon has been the trump card at this point,” another tweet in the third part read: “Stacey Solomon is a truly inspired host choice. I am already haunted.”

Another concluded: “What a refreshing change to have Stacey Solomon present.”

Tom Allen announced his departure from Bake Off: The Professionals in February, saying it was time to “move on”.

He said: “I had the best time co-hosting The Professionals in Sussex with my amazing friend Lam but now is the time to move on.

“This was my first TV host job in 2018 and it taught me so much – thanks to the amazing team I love working with, all the incredible chefs and most of all Benoit, Cherish and of course Liam are excellent. Wish you have a great series !! X”

As pastry teams from campuses in Manchester, Cumbria, Wiltshire, Birmingham and London compete for the coveted Bake Off crown, judges Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden tasked the pastry chefs with the evening Tuesday to create 36 individual strawberry cakes and a chocolate sculpture, no recipe to work from.

They were then challenged to turn an ordinary tart into a fine dining experience.
