HM Passport Office Director General Abi Tierney said: “Now that international travel has resumed we know people will be trying to go on holiday and yet many people are leaving too late to get a passport to apply.

“The summer holidays are fast approaching. So if you need a new passport, we urge you to apply now.”

According to the Timesthe passport office said it processed more than a million applications in March, up 13 percent from the last record high in March 2019.
