Batgirl director Adil El Arbi has revealed that Marvel boss Kevin Feige contacted him to offer his support after his DC superhero movie was ripped off by Warner Bros.
l Arbi has shared several messages of support on social media, including from Edgar Wright and Guardians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn.
It comes following the shocking announcement that Warner Bros. has shelved the multimillion-dollar film, which was shot entirely in Glasgow, five months before its scheduled release.
El Arbi and co-director Bilall Fallah said they were “deeply shocked and saddened” by the news while attending their wedding together.
“Thanks for all the supportive messages around the world,” El Arbi wrote on his Instagram story.
“Thank you to the directors @edgarwright & @ jamesgunn… your kind words and experiences mean a lot and help us through this difficult time.”
In another post, he shared a screenshot of an email from Feige, which read: “My friends, I have to reach out and let you know we are thinking about both of you.
“For the great wedding news (congratulations!) and the disappointing Batgirl news.
“So proud of you for all the great work you have done and of course especially Ms. Marvel!
“Can’t wait to see what’s next for you. Hope to see you soon.”

Batgirl is starring Hollywood stars Michael Keaton, Brendan Fraser, JK Simmons and Leslie Grace, and has an estimated price tag of $70 million (£57.6 million).
The film was scheduled for release in late 2022 but was scrapped after poor test screenings.
It comes as Warner Bros. bosses say they are considering restructuring the DC superhero franchise and implementing a 10-year plan, aiming to compete with the success of Marvel rivals.
CEO David Zaslav said the company will focus on the “quality” of upcoming blockbusters to “protect the DC brand”.
