The star of BBC documentary series The Scheme is mourning after his daughter died at their home.

Marvin Baird’s daughter Danielle Hamilton was found dead days before she was due to appear in court on drug charges.

Danielle was spotted at the Kilmarnock home she shared with her father on Sunday morning.

Police are still investigating her sudden death, but it’s believed 26-year-old Danielle died of a drug overdose.

She was tried for trafficking and supplying morphine and etizolam tablets Daily record reports.

Etizolam is described as a benzodiazepine-like substance that is similar to Valium but 10 times more toxic.

Two men, aged 33 and 42, appeared in court on Thursday charged with the same offences.

Friends who were shocked by her death have taken to social media to pay tribute to Danielle.

A friend wrote, “RIP Danielle MJ Hamilton… you’re gonna be up there causing it… gonna miss your little talks.”

Another said: “I knew Danielle when she was a Wee Wean, tragedy.”

And another friend wrote: “The last time I saw her was at one of my house parties. Little soul followed me everywhere. How can she be gone?”

Her father Marvin rose to fame in the 2010 BBC documentary The Scheme.

The Scheme is a BBC Scotland BAFTA winning documentary series.

It followed the lives of six families in the disadvantaged estates of Onthank and Knockinlaw in Kilmarnock.

Drug addict Marvin, along with his dog Bullet and ex Dayna McLaughlin, became breakout stars as the show followed their chaotic lives.

Speaking on a podcast last year, he said he didn’t make a dime from the show but did make money appearing at parties and events afterwards.

He has not made a public statement about his daughter’s death and is said to still be mourning the death of his girlfriend Sharon Cunningham in 2019.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers received a report at around 11.55am on Sunday 5 June of the sudden death of a 26-year-old woman at a property on Fulton’s Lane in Kilmarnock.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and the investigation is ongoing. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”

The Crown Office has confirmed that two men appeared privately at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday 9 June.

The 42-year-old was taken into custody. Both should appear again within eight days.
