Clive Myrie discusses the importance of war reporting

Clive Myrie says that certain images from the Ukraine Russia war will never leave him.

The BBC journalist has covered both the capital Kyiv as well as the UK, and he admits that it is sometimes difficult to move away from what he has seen both on the ground and in the videos.

Clive was moved by the people he reported to, and in a viral clip shared earlier, he broke down in tears while reporting on Kyiv to BBC News at 10pm earlier this month.

He was forced to leave the capital and return to the UK but he vowed to return to Ukraine.

When asked about the shutdown, he said on BBC’s Morning Live: “I can analyze it. Obviously there are images and there are things that you see that will stick with you, maybe for the rest of it. life.

“I think if you can’t separate yourself from what you see during the day and what you experience, then in the evening when you’re with your family and friends then I think that’s likely a problem. .”

He added: “Touching wood, I can still do it so I like a good glass of wine.

“I love music, classical music and jazz in particular. It’s about trying to separate yourself from everything else because I’m a three-dimensional person, my life revolves around the news.”

Clive previously explained how devastating it was to have to leave the city.

“It’s been a long day of driving and queuing to get out of Kyiv. Imagine having to rush to leave all you know because you’re being peeled! What do you pack? Do pets come? It’s freezing cold and you pray people in neighboring countries will welcome you, not despise you!” he wrote on Twitter as he shared a photo from his journey.

“My thoughts are with the 1 million people who have fled #Ukraine because they could be killed.

“Millions of people have fled #syria and millions of others freed from oppression, poverty, and war. All prayed that they would be welcomed in other countries as human beings. That’s all they asked for 2/2 #refugees. ”
