BBC Strictly Come Dancing’s granddaughter Arlene Phillips has been taken to hospital

Be sure to come dance star Arlen Phillips had her “world turned around” when her daughter was hospitalized. Former BBC judge reveals Emme Bow has contracted a virus, although thankfully she’s now back home.

Taking to social media, Arlene wrote: “My world was turned upside down this week when my beautiful granddaughter #emmebow was admitted to the hospital and my daughter @alanastewartmama had no idea why she was losing weight so quickly and was like a little rag doll.

“Thankfully the hospital found out what was wrong which was the result of a virus and now she is home and really on the mend which has lifted my spirits tremendously and I am absolutely ready to go into my rehearsals full of smiles to go to @houseofflamenka.”

Arlene Phillips opens up about being dropped by the BBC for Strictly Come Dancing

Arlene, 79, is best known for her role in the original Be sure to come dance Jury before being dropped and replaced by Alesha Dixon in 2009.

Speaking of being dropped in 2009, Arlene said: “I gave myself 48 hours to kick, scream, cry and sob and eat scones with cream and jam, then I forced myself to wake up and move on.

“I think and I’m like, ‘Wow, I really didn’t ask the questions I needed to ask.’ I was very fragile because I had a bereavement the day before [her manager died].

“I wanted to know in detail and I wanted to know the real reason when they decided I was going but they held me for so long with the possibility that there would be five judges.”
