BBC Three is airing HBO Max’s dating show FBoy Island

BBC Three has taken over dating show FBoy Island from HBO Max.

The series, which was created by American comedian Nikki Glaser, is the latest addition to the newly launched linear TV network’s program roster.

It will follow three women, Sarah, Nakia and CJ, who are looking for a serious relationship on a tropical island with a pool of 24 men to choose from.

However, only half are interested in starting a relationship, with the other half on the show to fool the women and win a cash prize – the so-called “FBoys”.

The female contestants have to guess which of the men are real and which are feigning interest.

According to the BBC, FBoy Island had the biggest launch of an HBO Max Originals reality series since the HBO Max platform launched in the United States in 2020.

The show is created by Elan Gale, who also produced hit dating game show The Bachelorette and a number of its spin-offs.

Each episode, Sarah, Nakia, and CJ choose who to date and who to eliminate.

Candidates who then turn out to be bad guys are sent to Limbro to participate in group therapy, while those who turn out to be nice guys are rewarded with a stay at the Nice Guy Grotto.

BBC Three controller Fiona Campbell said: “This series completely turns the concept of dating shows on its head, making it fun and engaging to watch.

“It has a lot of humor and heart, and while it shouldn’t be taken too seriously, it leaves room for real romance.

“It’s already been very well received in the US and we think it will be a great addition to our original BBC Three assignments.”

FBoy Island launches on BBC Three on Wednesday April 20th.
