BBC viewers shocked as Royal Guard collapse in front of Queen’s coffin

BBC Viewers were shocked when live footage of the Queen lies in state showed one of the royal guards watching over Her late Majesty’s coffin suddenly collapse.

The guard was standing at the foot of the late monarch’s coffin when it suddenly fell to the ground.

The incident happened around 12:30 am, the black-clad security guard was holding a ceremonial staff as he appeared to pass out, and nearby officers quickly rushed to his aid.

As it was tended to, the live vision quickly faded to a nocturnal exterior view of the building. Over an hour later, the broadcast still hadn’t returned to the venue in the hall.

Soldiers in ceremonial uniforms stand guard around the Queen’s coffin around the clock while she is laid out.

The guards of units which include the sovereign’s bodyguard, the household department or the yeoman warders of the Tower of London are required to stand perfectly still at the four corners of the catafalque.

While the soldiers rotate every 20 minutes, the hours they stand completely still while standing is six hours.
