Alex Jones says the Oscars slap eclipsed other winners

The One Show hosts Alex Jones and Alex Scott opened Monday’s part of the BBC’s evening talk show with a discussion of the controversy at last night’s Oscars.

Will Smith shocked an all-star audience and home audiences on Sunday night when he stormed onto the stage and slapped Chris Rock in the face on live television.

While presenting for the category of Best Documentary Feature, the comedian decided to throw praise on Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, saying, “Jada, can’t wait for GI Jane 2.”

Jada Pinkett Smith, who suffers from alopecia, looked furious as the comedian reenacted her appearance, just minutes before her husband Will rushed in to her defense.

Will then walked onto the stage and slapped the host, before returning to his seat before shouting, “Get my wife’s name out of your mouth.”

The One Show saw guests Gary Oldman and Stephen Mangan sit on the BBC’s sofa, but before the conversation began, Alex Jones turned the matter to a moment of Hollywood amazement.

“We have to start with the Oscars last night,” she said. The only thing people talked about was the moment Will Smith hit Chris Rock about making fun of his wife. “

She then added: “But as a result the other winners have been somewhat eclipsed, which is unfortunate, isn’t it?”
