BBC’s EastEnders and ITV’s Emmerdale have devised dramatic storylines to keep viewers engaged as they go head-to-head during the 7:30pm slot.
The following evening saw soap operas clash in the television schedule following improvements to the evening programming of both broadcasters.
EastEnders has changed to a new “simplified schedule” that airs on BBC One at 7:30pm to 8pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
While Emmerdale has moved to the 7.30pm slot and Coronation Street to hour-long episodes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm as part of ITV’s 9pm pre-schedule change.
EastEnders engages viewers by continuing the dramatic storyline that follows murderer Gray Atkins as he tries to conceal his connection to the murder of Tina Carter as word circulates around Albert Square about the new victim’s name. his best.

Others said the extended evening broadcast on ITV, which shows 90-minute broadcast output of continuous news programming, was a noticeable increase and some felt it might be too long.
