Be bold, be cool and be aggressive – Frank supports Bees to keep impressing

Brentford boss Thomas Frank wants his players to continue playing in the way they believe they can hold their own in the Premier League when they travel to Leicester on Sunday.

After falling back down the table after a run of seven losses from eight league games, back-to-back wins over relegation rivals Norwich and Burnley have reignited their survival boost.

After working so hard to earn the right to play in the Premier League for the first time as the club returned to the top flight after 74 years, Frank urged his team to adopt the attitude needed to play at the King Power Stadium to achieve another positive result.

“We know results are nice but they have to be backed by performances so our consistency in performing well gives us something to believe in,” said the head coach.

“The more freely you can play without thinking about the consequences, the better you will play.

“The last two games have been close games, which is natural because wins mean a lot.

“In general, we reiterated that we have to be brave, cool and aggressive. The more we can enforce that on the training ground, the better.”

Leicester may have struggled for national consistency this season and are currently 12th but have reached the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League where they face PSV Eindhoven.

Frank won’t underestimate the challenge Brendan Rodgers’ roster presents.

“We know it’s going to be difficult,” the Brentford boss said at a press conference.

“They may not have reached the highest level this season compared to the last two seasons where they’ve been fighting for Champions League football and playing incredible football – but they’re still a top-flight side, all on their day Top 6 can beat teams.

“Earlier this season we performed well (against them) and definitely deserved a point, if not more.

“They had that quality from (Youri) Tielemans and a transition where we had to get 100 per cent better. In Tieleman and (James) Maddison they have two of the best attacking players in the league.”

However, Frank thinks his own squad knows enough about them to give the foxes some concern.

“It’s no secret that we like to focus on set pieces,” said the Dane.

“I’m aware that Leicester have conceded a few goals, but I’m also sure that Brendan Rodgers, his staff and the players will do everything they can to avoid conceding so that it can be a battle in the game.” Be bold, be cool and be aggressive – Frank supports Bees to keep impressing
