Beaming Earth’s location into space could cause ALIEN INVASION, expert warns as broadcast tech prepares for update

A MESSAGE sent into space revealing Earth’s location could provoke an alien invasion, an expert has warned.
Nasa launched a basic called Arecibo in 1974, but with better technology available today, scientists want to update it.
The new space-bound note – dubbed Beacon in the Galaxy – is the latest attempt to make contact with other life forms.
It will contain the position of our solar system within the Milky Way relative to known star clusters, so anyone who hears it can hunt Earth.
Details about the earth’s surface, drawings of people, and basic engineering concepts for them to reach us are also packed in.
However, a top Oxford University researcher believes the move could be risky.
dr Anders Sandberg said that telegraph “It has such a powerful effect that you actually have to take it pretty seriously.”
However, he considers the likelihood that the message will actually reach extraterrestrials to be quite low.
If that’s the case, the show will likely be more “like a postcard that says, ‘I wish you were here,'” he added.
There are some communications in space that are destined for extraterrestrials, which could also be a problem in its own right.
“The poor aliens may already be getting different messages for all sorts of reasons,” said Dr. Sandberg.
But the biggest problem is the “giggle factor” associated with all things alien and UFO.
“A lot of people just refuse to take anything related to it seriously — which is a shame because these are important things,” he continued.

dr Sandberg isn’t the first to worry about an invasion.
The late great professor Stephen Hawking previously warned that this news could well pose a danger.
