Tatyana Perebeynos, 43, was killed along with her two children by shelling as they tried to flee Irpin on the outskirts of Kyiv with images of their bodies showing the brutality of the invasion
A “beloved” mother was killed with her two children and a family dog as they tried to flee Ukrainian shelling, with her distraught husband saying “forgive me” ” for not being able to protect them.
Tatyana Perebeynos, 43, and her children were among Ukrainians trying to leave Irpin, a suburb of Kyiv, when the town came under fire from Russian mortars.
Pictures of her body lying on the street with her children Alise, 9, and Nikita, 18, have been viewed around the world and show the barbarity of the invasion.
Suspicions have been poured on her, including from the company where she works, SE Ranking, while her abusive husband wrote a message on Facebook that read: “Forgive me, I didn’t cover for you.”
The family moved from her hometown of Donetsk to escape violence in the region in 2014 between Ukrainian forces and Russian separatists.
Moving to the Ukrainian capital, they chose to make a home in Irpin, a suburb of Kyiv, and Tatyana took a job at SE Ranking, where she went on to become the director of the accounting department and “beloved” by other workers.
“You can always go to her with the dumbest questions about taxes, international payments or anything else,” said one colleague, Telegraph newspaper. “She always answered patiently, laying out all the options on the table.”
Another said: “She has a great sense of humour. Stories about children or quarrels with husbands during home repair make everyone laugh.
After the Russian invasion, she and her children’s decision to evacuate last Sunday was delayed because Tatyana needed to take care of her mother.
They crossed a bridge with a male friend helping them leave when they came to an open road where they were bombarded by Russian shelling despite it being an evacuation route and humanitarian corridor.
Another colleague, Elena Karpova, is another person to pay tribute to her “big sister”.
“She makes everyone smile whenever she speaks,” she said. “Clear, witty, determined. She is like a big sister to us…we will never forget and never forgive”.
The company where Tatyana worked also wrote a message on Facebook about the “grief” and “grief” caused by her death.
SE Ranking stated: “We are heartbroken to say that yesterday our dear colleague and friend Tatiana Perebeinis, the chief accountant of SE Ranking, was killed along with her two children by Russian mortars.
“The family is trying to evacuate from Irpin – a small city just around the corner from Kyiv where there is no water, electricity or heating.
“There are no words to describe our pain or to heal our pain. But for us, it was important not to just let Tania and her children Alise and Nikita just do it. her family fell victim to a gratuitous fire on civilians.any law is a crime against humanity.
“The Russian military are criminals, and they should be stopped. Our hearts are broken. Our prayers are with all Ukrainians who are fighting for their right to exist. .”
Her husband, Sergei, posted photos of his family on Facebook and wrote that the Russians had “taken everything”.
He said: “Tania can’t do it. What’s all this for? What’s next?
“I’m on my way, must see you one last time. Forgive me, I didn’t cover for you.”
He also later tracked down his family’s dogs with one having to be brought down and the other at a vet where it had its legs amputated.
Of the dead dog, he wrote: “Unfortunately, my good friend has flown to them just now.”
