Ben Shephard apologizes to Good Morning Britain viewers after awkward technical error left co-star scrambling to fix
BEN Shephard today apologized to Good Morning Britain viewers after the show experienced an awkward technical issue.
Random graphics were projected onto the screen as the image mixer burned, prompting Ben to cheekily tease co-star Kate Garraway as to blame.
He accused Kate of spilling her early morning coffee causing it to malfunction – something she admitted did elsewhere.
Before the ad stopped working, Charlotte Hawkins stepped into the editing suite to see if she could solve the problem.
It also seems to work because when viewers return to the set, they are told that everything is back to normal.
Ben explained that part of the plastic case had misaligned on the Live button causing havoc.
Later on the show, Kate explained how her energy bills have increased 400% since her husband Derek returned home from the hospital after his battle with the coronavirus.
With supplier prices soaring, Kate says she has to wash her clothes seven to eight times, followed by drying each day because Derek is cared for around the clock.
Earlier this week Kate, 54, admitted “we don’t know what the new year will bring”.
Kate – who was awarded an MBE in the New Year’s honor – said on GMB: “He is fine. He is phenomenally tired at the moment and very weak.
“After the trip to the dining room, he didn’t get out of bed afterwards, but I think it was worth it and I know he does because it’s such a special moment to be there holding hands with the kids doing something. normal.
“But it took everything from him. We don’t know what the new year will bring.
“He was there with a smile on his face and present. The speech wasn’t there, but you could see he knew something special was going on and he was a part of it.
“The morning of the panto, I asked ‘you’re so tired, are you sure you still want to do this?’ and he said ‘yes, yes’.”
