Benedict Cumberbatch is opening up about his role in Zoolander 2.
The 45-year-old actor has been cast in the role of a non-binary fashion model named All, prompting several petitions to boycott the film and even one person wanting the role again – something that Benedict agree with today.

“There is a lot of controversy surrounding this role, which is understandable now,” he said. “I think in this day and age, my role would never be played by anyone other than a transgender actor.”
Benedict added that at the time, he “didn’t necessarily think about it in that respect, and it’s more about two dinosaurs, two clichés that don’t understand this new, diverse world. But it backfired a bit. “
