Benfica ‘will consider transfer bids for Adel Taarabt after former QPR star is dropped from squad’
BENFICA are said to be ready to sell Adel Taarabt after dropping the former Queens Park Rangers star from their squad.
Maverick moved to the Portuguese giants in 2015 but only first debuted for them in March 2019 after many loan spells.
The former ace of Tottenham and QPR continues to stay in Portugal after 30% salary reduction.
Show Portuguese news agency Record announced the 32-year-old Moroccan player is transferable.
Taarabt was left out of the squad for the recent clash with Moreirense under the direction of boss Nelson Verissimo.
He still has a contract until 2023 but this report says he could leave this month if Benfica receives an acceptable offer.
After loan spells at Fulham and AC Milan, he moved to Benfica four years ago on a permanent basis from QPR.
Despite signing a five-year contract, the Moroccan international struggled to make an impact and was soon relegated to their B team.

Taarabt was loaned for 18 months to Italy’s Genoa in January 2017 before returning the following year.
Taarabt has clearly demonstrated his talent throughout his career but has struggled to replicate that form for a long time.
He failed to establish himself at Spurs after joining Lens.
However, he was awarded the EFL Player of the Year award for inspiring QPR to be promoted to the Premier League in 2011.
