Bette Davis had kind words about working with Marilyn Monroe on all things New Year’s Eve

In her interview on Stanley Siegel shows Back in 1977, the subject of Marilyn Monroe came up. Despite all the difficulties with the young actress on the set of “All About Eve,” Davis had nothing but kind things to say.

“Oh, I know she has a long way to go. Sure, without a doubt, I know she can. She’s a very ambitious girl, [and] know what she wants [and was] She then added, “I think she’s talented,” and noted how much the camera loved Monroe, too.

Bette Davis has always been outspoken and proper, which has made her both difficult to work with but also someone you can trust to have a frank conversation with you. While now many people know her more because of her Legendary feud with Joan Crawford, Davis is a phenomenal actress. She takes her acting skills very seriously and it shows through all her efforts on screen.

Knowing how serious she is to her career as an actress, her reflection on Monroe and her efforts makes a lot of sense. While many would argue that Monroe had no talent, she worked incredibly hard (some say too hard to stall) at her job. It is a bittersweet consolation to know that Davis has had good things to say following Monroe’s life trajectory. But Davis’ words live on for all of us to hear, read, and ponder.
