Beyonce thanked fans for their “love and protection” after it was reported that her new album Renaissance had been leaked online two days before its official release.
The pop superstar said she appreciates her fans – known as Beyhive – for calling out “anyone who tries to sneak into the club early”.
Outraged fans took to social media on Wednesday night, after audio files circulated on the social network, which allegedly gave some listeners early access to the songs.
Minutes before the official release of the album on Friday, the singer addressed the situation in social media posts.
“So the album was leaked and you all really waited for the right release time so you could all enjoy it together,” she wrote.
“I have never seen anything like it. I cannot thank you all for your love and protection.
“I appreciate you for calling out anyone who tried to sneak into the club early.
“It makes sense to me. Thank you for your unwavering support. Thank you for your patience.
“We will take our time and enjoy the music. I will continue to give my best and do my best to bring you joy.”
She abbreviated: “I love you deeply.”
Renaissance is Beyonce’s seventh studio album and her first in six years following the release of the critically acclaimed Lemonade in 2016.
