Britain’s Got Talent showrunners have hit back at claims that the moment a father was dragged from the audience to sing was staged.
On Saturday night, judges were mesmerized after three- and four-year-olds Savannah and Cali took to the stage in their chariot, surprising their father Nick Edwards in the stands.
The girls then revealed that they wanted their dad to audition on stage, with his mom Tracey revealing she signed up for the show because Nick would never do it on his own. .
But viewers are highly skeptical of this moment, believing it to be staged.
However, an official BGT spokesman told The Mirror: “We’d love to welcome back BGT audiences last night after a year away. Report or imply anything staged or The fabrication associated with Nick’s audition would be false and inaccurate.
“Very simply, when Nick walked into the Palladium auditorium during his BGT audition, he was approached to be part of our ‘reveal box’ audience and said he was going to get on the mic for us. i could record his reaction throughout the day as he sat in the audience..
“He has absolutely no doubt. We did this to be able to activate him without him suspecting anything.”
Taking to Twitter over the weekend, one said: “Almost in tears until I remember how the whole thing went. I won’t let this performance fool me.”
Another wrote: “As he sat in the stands, didn’t he wonder where the kids and mom were? He said they would go out together someday?”
One unimpressed viewer said: “Absolutely surprised but he turned on the microphone… Okay.”
