The emotional moment Simon Cowell of BGT comforts the 12-year-old singer with a golden bell on stage

Britain’s Got Talent 2022 kicks off this weekend, with a host of new talent hoping to make it to the finals and win prizes.

Judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Simon Cowell have all returned this time, after Ashley Banjo joined for Simon in 2020.

The show has already aired in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, so the latest hopefuls are ready to deliver entertaining and eye-catching performances.

A lucky few will even win a Golden Buzzer from the judges, and host Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly.

But what is the Golden Buzzer, what does it mean and who can press it? Here are all the details about the helix…

If a performer is awarded the golden bell at the end of their audition, they’ll get a spot in one of the show’s live semi-finals.

This means they skip the bootcamp phase of the competition, giving them a head start

The yellow bell is hit by judges or presenters when they decide they want a particular audition to go straight to the live shows.

This year, all the golden bell-ringing acts automatically made it to the finals.

Loren was the voice of the iconic song from the hit movie, but the on-screen part went to actress Rebecca Ferguson. When asked why she wanted to be on the show, she said before impressing fans with her incredible rendition of the hit: “I feel like the song is for me and I’m ready to perform the song, so I’m here to do it.”
