BRITAIN’S Got Talent child star George Sampson looks different as he takes on a big role in Los Angeles
The dancer rose to fame on the first series of the ITV talent show in 2007, but is best known for his appearance on the second season the following year.
The Warrington-born boy auditioned for BGT 14 years ago and revealed that he used money from his own pocket to pay for dance lessons – while busking in the streets.
He performed Timbaland’s Drop and made it to the next round but did not make it to the semi-finals.
A year later, he returned to the stage to dance to Bob Sinclair’s Rock This Party in front of the judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan.
It was enough to get him into the next round, where he performed his iconic routine with Singin’ In The Rain.
He conquered the hearts of the country with his amazing skills and reached the finals.
George does exactly the same routine, ending with him lying on his back in the rain.
The youngster beat Signature and Andrew Johnston to the top of the table and was crowned champion.
George, now 29, is still doing what he loves most – performing.
He has moved to Los Angeles and is starring in the musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, after wowing audiences in the West End.
He has a significant role in the Dean Paxton school bully.
Photos taken last night show George beaming on the red carpet as the musical opens in Hollywood.
He reflected on how far he’d come in a sweet Instagram post, writing: “I used to dance in the rain and snow in the streets of Manchester/Liverpool and Warrington, when money meant I could eat and feed his family at night.
“Back then I knew I’d be here one day. My debut at a Hollywood movie theater.”
In 2012, George returned to Britain’s Got Talent a year later and performed in the final when the results were announced.
And he came back two years ago for Britain’s Got Talent: The Champion, reaching the semi-finals.
George has also forayed into TV.
He played Kyle Stack in Waterloo Road from 2011 to 2012 and again in 2013.
The dancer also played a character in CBBC’s The Dumping Ground and Emmerdale in 2016.
He’s also dipped his toes into a bit of reality TV after starring in the fourth series of Celebrity Trip in 2019.
He also shows his love for the stage.
In 2012, he played Peter Pan in the silent film, then Reecey in Our House (2018).
He is currently starring in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
George announced some exciting news earlier this month.
He told his 66.8k followers: “I’m going to Los Angeles in January to continue as Dean in @jamiemusical before returning to finish my UK tour 🇺🇸. GOOOOOOOOO LA 🔥 ️.”
Although the Northerner has a passion for dancing, he has another love in his life – his girlfriend is Kazmin Borrer, who plays Vicki in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
He loves to share photos of the loving couple on his Instagram.
George recently captioned a photo of the affectionate couple: “Best time of year with my sweetheart.”
Street Dancer is a patron of Dance Aid since 2009.
