Biden is recovering quickly from COVID-19

President Joe Biden is reportedly doing better on Sunday as he recovers after testing positive for COVID-19.

The White House announced Thursday that Biden had tested positive. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had said Biden, who is fully vaccinated and has received two booster shots, has had “very mild symptoms.”

Biden has followed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for isolation while taking the antiviral drug Paxlovid for emergencies.

“I checked in with his team late last night. He felt good. He had a good day yesterday. He has viral syndrome, upper respiratory infection … and is fine,” Ashish Jha, the White House coronavirus response coordinator, said in an interview with CBS News.

Jha said that Biden has the BA.5 variant. Jha said Biden is getting better so quickly because he is fully vaccinated.

Presidential Physician Kevin C. O’Connor released a statement Sunday, also stating that Biden is recovering.

“President Biden completed his third full day on Paxlovid last night. His symptoms continue to improve significantly. His predominant symptom now is a sore throat. This is most likely the result of lymphoid activation as his body eliminates the virus, so it’s encouraging,” O’Connor said.

O’Connor added that Biden’s cough and body aches have gone, although his voice remains deeper. Biden’s pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature are all normal as well. Biden is recovering quickly from COVID-19
