‘Big Bang Theory’ star Johnny Galecki reveals the ‘tipping point’ episode that led to Kaley Cuoco’s relationship

Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki have revealed details about the ‘secret’ relationship they had while filming ‘The Big Bang Theory.’

The couple played the couple Penny and Leonard on the CBS series until its graduation in 2019.

They formed a close friendship on the set of the series and began a two-year relationship prior to filming the second season in 2007.

In an excerpt from The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story provided to Vanity Fair, Cuoco recalls having a “very strong” crush on Galecki, who she said was “so bragging about it” on set ” would have.

The couple had their first on-screen kiss during the sixth episode of the first season, a Halloween episode titled “The Middle Earth Paradigm,” for which a “nervous” Cuoco was dressed as a cat.

She said: “I knew I looked really cute in that outfit, so I felt really good about myself. And I knew he thought I looked cute because he previously commented on how cute I looked in that outfit. But I was definitely nervous about that kiss.

“In all the scenes, until we actually got together in real life, it was obvious that there was always something there. The chemistry was right and we had a crush on each other. That was all of season one before we really got together.”

Galecki described filming a dream sequence for season one’s fourteenth episode “The Nerdvana Annihilation” as a “watershed moment.” One day after rehearsals, they “got a glass of wine together” at a restaurant that Cuoco said she “knew there was going to be trouble.”

“We kissed at the bar,” she said, adding, “It’s so dark in there you almost feel like you can do anything, but then it was like, ‘Oh, oh, I guess it’s gonna be really bad. We started kissing in the bar area and then we kissed in the parking lot.”

Despite dating for two years and ending their relationship in 2009, they decided to keep their romance a secret — but they did tell their co-star Jim Parsons, who played Sheldon Cooper.

Galecki said the decision to keep the relationship quiet was mostly his own, which he says contributed to the breakup.

“It was a lot of fun teaching each other different things, but then when I got to wanting different things, it made things more complicated. Kaley is very, very open about her life. I was very uncomfortable speaking about this publicly and I think it hurt Kaley’s feelings a bit and I can understand that.

“It certainly wasn’t because I felt ashamed of her or our relationship, but I wanted to protect audience acceptance of Penny and Leonard and not let the tabloids distract me. I’m generally private.’

Cuoco said they “ran out of stuff to talk about” because they spent so much time together, both professionally and personally.

In the same book, the show’s creator Chuck Lorre denied adding more sex scenes for the actors after they broke up

The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story will be released on October 11th.
