The Big Breakfast is back on Channel 4 with its star-studded first episode, which features appearances from actor Daniel Kaluuya, singer Rita Ora and Love Island winners Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti.

His show first debuted as a weekday morning entertainment program in 1992 and last aired in its original format more than two decades ago.

On Saturday, it returned to TV host AJ Odudu and comedian Mo Gilligan ahead of the revival.

To kick off the show, Odudu and Gilligan toured viewers around the new Big Breakfast home while introducing the show’s guests and behind-the-scenes crew.

In the all-star lineup is singer Ora, who has appeared on the show via video link since 3 a.m. at her venue alongside producer and DJ Netsky.

To pay homage to the new song Barricades, they played a game in which they had to build an obstacle course using items from their respective rooms.

The singer also made everyone laugh after mistaking a peach for a hairy apple.

Oscar winner Kaluuya appeared in person to discuss his upcoming projects and how he is adjusting to moving between the UK and US.

He revealed that one of the things he misses most while away is baked beans and he was stopped by airport security for trying to bring them in hand luggage.

The British actor also said what he loved about the original Big Breakfast was that it seemed like everyone involved was just “having a good time” together.

“You’re watching it and the presenters and the crew are doing a show and just having a laugh,” he added.

“That’s what got me into acting. When I’m in the youth theater, we just have a laugh and then we have a performance at the end of it. “

Soul singer Heather Small has been revealed as this week’s mystery guest after viewers were given clues about her identity.

Throughout the show, Love Island winners Culculoglu and Sanclimenti participated in various activities as well as revealing some personal news.

While chatting with Odudu and Gilligan, the couple announced that they will be preparing their own spin-off with ITV2, where they will be taking trips to their home countries of Italy and Turkey.

Some of the original hosts also appeared including actress Denise Van Outen and broadcaster Phil Gayle.

When they reunited, Outen said: “It’s great to hear Phil’s voice, it took me back to 20 weird years.”

Van Outen also gave Pat Butcher her best impression when she teamed up with EastEnders star Shaun Williamson for a comedy sketch.

And Gayle took up her original role on the newsreader and read the latest headlines steadily throughout the show’s two-and-a-half hours.

Also among the guest appearances were comedian Joel Dommett and chef and internet personality Big Has, who cooked at a grill.

To keep things exciting, two of England’s Lionesses, Alessia Russo and Ella Toone, took part in a penalty shootout with the guests and presenters.

Host Judi Love also sat down to chat in the “love tent” with rapper Lethal Bizzle, who performed his song “Fester Skank” at the end of the show.

Last year, Odudu and Gilligan staged a show-only special as part of Channel 4’s Black To Front project, which featured a show day in which the broadcaster aired shows featuring black stars and black contributors.

Big Breakfast returns on Saturdays at 10am on Channel 4 and All 4.
