Big change to YouTube adds Hollywood movies and top TV shows to the app

YOUTUBE wants to become a one stop shop for all your favorite shows and movies so you don’t have to go anywhere else.

The Google-owned app has unveiled a massive new project that will bring full-length content from more than 30 major producers directly to YouTube.

It will make YouTube more of a cable or satellite bundle of the future.

Apple and Amazon have long offered something similar with their products.

Paramount, AMC and Showtime are among the well-known partners.

Of course you have to pay for the privilege.

But you can subscribe to anyone right inside YouTube to make life easier – and YouTube is hoping its massive user base will make the idea a success.

Primetime Channels, as it is officially called, will initially only be available in the USA.

Once you’re on board, each works basically like any other YouTube channel with its own homepage and videos, except you get the premium content.

You can even post comments with a like or dislike – but the number of views will not be displayed.

Movies and TV shows have been available on YouTube for a while, but not quite like this.

So far, you could only buy or borrow individual titles and episodes for a fee.

YouTube said it’s working to bring in other big-name partners as well, like NBA League Pass, which is “coming soon.”

“With more streaming options than ever before, it can be a little overwhelming hopping from app to app to find what you’re looking for,” the video-sharing site explained.

“Well, that will change soon.”
