Billie Eilish has asked fans to “promise voting planning” ahead of the upcoming US midterm elections.
Voting for the midterm elections to be held on November 8.
In his video, Eilish says what is at stake in the election “scares me” and tells fans “the only way to be sure of the future is to make it myself”.
“I want to explain why I voted this year and I think it’s important how you vote too. I look at what’s on the ballot and what’s at stake, and it scares me,” she said.
“They also want to take away the freedom to marry the one they love, restrict the right to vote and enact legislation that threatens the progress that needs to be made on climate change.
“The only way to be sure of the future is to do it ourselves, which is why we must vote on or before 8 November.
“Promise me that you will plan to vote. Show them what our power looks like.”
The singer’s plea came as other celebrities including Mark Ruffalo also urged people to vote.
The Marvel star will appear at an upcoming Democratic Party fundraiser and has told people from his home state of Wisconsin to help “defend American democracy against assholes”.
