Billie Faiers has revealed the mixed feelings she had returning to Dancing On Ice studios over the weekend.
Speaking to her sister Sam Faiers, the former TOWIE star recalled “not exactly PTSD [but] weird feeling,” she experienced as she arrived for the show’s grand finale on Sunday night.
The 32-year-old reality TV star was ordered by medics last year to withdraw from the ITV series for her own safety after sustaining a head injury during a training session at the ice rink.
Billie was rehearsing with her pro partner Mark Hanretty, 35, at the studios at Bovingdon Airfield, Herts, in February 2021 when she slipped.
The mother of two was rushed to hospital where she had an MRI scan and eventually withdrew from the series after just one dance on TV.
In the latest episode of her podcast The Sam & Billie Showthe unfortunate skater spoke about the different feelings she experienced returning to the ITV studios over the weekend.
Billie was one of the famous faces in the crowd on Sunday night as Regan Gascoigne and Karina Manta were announced as the winners of Dancing On Ice 2022.
After revealing daughter Nelly had fallen ill on Mother’s Day, Billie explained how her mum stepped in to look after her eldest child so she and husband Greg Shepherd could still attend the highly anticipated final.
“Arthur [her son] very much looking forward to supporting Mark [Hanretty] Since it was the final, Mom came to the rescue and I, Greg and Arthur left anyway,” Billie told her sister during a conversation on Monday.
“We went there and supported Mark, it was really good.”
The pregnant Sam then asked her big sister: “How did that feel? [to return]? Did it all come back to you? Was it a bit nostalgic?”
“That was it,” Billie began in her reply to her sister.
“As we drove into the gates — it’s like a big airfield where they take it — I went like an ‘oooh’ — not exactly PTSD, but you know, it was a weird feeling.”
“Because obviously the last time I was there was when I had my accident and was told I couldn’t continue the competition so it was a little bit strange but it was so nice to go back and see Mark and him to support.”
She continued: “[I] finally met Mark’s beautiful wife Kathy because we never really met last year as there was no live audience so it was quiet when you performed.
“It was brilliant, it was such a good show.”
Billie praised her skating partner for third place and recognized the high standard of the skaters during this year’s competition – and revealed that her husband Greg joked it was a good job that she didn’t compete in the last series.
Earlier this month, pregnant Sam spoke on the podcast about her third pregnancy and why she thinks she’s carrying a boy.
The reality TV star – who announced with longtime boyfriend Paul Knightley that they are expecting in November – says her baby’s gender is a surprise but believes she is expecting another son.
Speaking to her sister, Sam revealed: “For the first four or five months I didn’t know at all what I was going to have. I didn’t really have any clues or clues.
“Looking at my stomach recently, I don’t know there are some little things that make me think it’s a boy and I’ve had some really vivid dreams. Other than that, it’s like you said it’s 50/50.”
