Billy Gilmour has been hailed as the ideal signing for Graham Potter.
But a former Albion and Chelsea defender is surprised the Stamford Bridge team let him go.
Gary Chivers, who follows both clubs regularly, said: “He’s got an old head on young shoulders. He’s good on the ball, he’s a good passer.
“He doesn’t come forward too much.
“He needs to play a lot more football.
“I love him as a player and the Chelsea fans love him too.
“I’m surprised they let him go.”
Chivers says Albion boss Potter will enjoy working with his new addition.
He said: He’s a brilliant new signing for Brighton.
“I think he would be ideal for Brighton because he’s an intelligent footballer.
“He always tries to get the ball no matter where he is on the pitch.
“Graham Potter will be an absolute delight to have in the squad.
“You can play him a little further forward. A little further back. He is ideal.
“He’s probably spoken to Tariq Lamptey about how his move at Brighton went.
“You get to a point where you just want to play.”
