The Australian Zoo celebrates Steve Irwin Day every year in November. The date was chosen because it matched the birthday of one of Steve’s favorite animals, a tortoise from the Galápagos Islands named Harriet, who lived to be 175 years old. .
The celebration website reads: “As wildlife warriors, we believe every life deserves to be saved. We believe anyone can become an Animal Warrior. We believe khaki is more than a color – it’s an attitude!
