A man has thrown cat feces through his neighbors’ mailbox and scratched an expletive into their car after their cats allegedly killed his birds.

So bad was Izaak Bradbury’s harassment campaign that the couple ended up installing CCTV, which cost £1,100, to catch him in the act and altered his route home so they didn’t have to pass by the 29-year-old’s property, a court heard .

They also said they lost three of their cats “under mysterious circumstances.”

magistrates at North Staffordshire Justice Center Bradbury’s behavior has been said to have started last June in the quiet Staffordshire Moorlands village where he and his victims live.

Prosecutor Angela Trafford said: “In the summer of 2021, both victims got into trouble with the defendant. He blamed their cats for killing his birds.

“The defendant came to her home address and was very aggressive towards the female victim. His remarks caused her so much grief that she called the police.

“He said things like he was going to snap her neck like her cat had done to his birds.

After that incident, the male victim found an offensive word scratched on his car and cat feces thrown into his mailbox.

Ms Trafford said: “This behavior culminated in the victims having to install CCTV at a cost of £1,100. Police spoke to Mr Bradbury and victims hoped CCTV would stop his behaviour. Unfortunately this was not the case.”

Bradbury pleaded guilty to two charges of harassment at the North Staffordshire Justice Center

In a statement read in court, the female victim said: “The ongoing harassment my husband and I have endured has had a financial and emotional impact.

“Several times he verbally abused us and pressed cat feces through the cat flap. An established pasture was killed. We lost three cats under very mysterious circumstances.

“I’ll lock and chain the door now while I’m home alone. We will come home by a different route so as not to pass his house.”

Bradbury, of Wetton, pleaded guilty to two charges of harassment over a six-month period.

The court heard he had previously obtained a community order for assault, which was still in effect when some of the harassment took place.

“In December, when it was snowing, he went to her address and wrote ‘Pervert’ in the snow with his foot.

“Two days later he threw cat feces on their vehicles and the greenhouse. A few days later he was seen throwing cat feces on her car.”

Paige Morgan mitigated that Bradbury acted “on impulse”. “Mr Bradbury had 24 birds, of which he lost 10 to his neighbours’ cats. He was very upset and angry about it. Those were impulsive actions.

“He was going through a difficult time at the time due to Covid and his grandfather, who has since passed away, was unwell. There have been no other incidents in recent months and he has stayed away from the victims in this case.”

The judges said that because of the nature and seriousness of the offenses, they wanted a report on Bradbury from the probation service to help them decide how to sentence him.

The case has been adjourned to allow for this and Bradbury will know his fate on June 7th.

Ms Trafford requested an injunction to prevent Bradbury from having contact with the victims, which will be considered at the next hearing.
