Bizarre Ditto event and special rewards revealed

POKEMON Go is crazy about Ditto in a crazy April Fool’s Day event.

The purple blob is part of a special event for a limited time, so don’t wait.

april fool’ 2-Oh?-22 runs until midnight, with plenty of Ditto-related quests and extras in tow.

As the creators of Niantic explain, “Professor Willow has some new special research for Trainers to help with.

“At least… we think he does. Is that really Professor Willow?

“Are you actually one of his trusted trainers? We can no longer say what Ditto is and what isn’t.”

Ditto is known for being quite elusive due to its unique ability to disguise itself as other creatures.

In fact, the only real movement is transformation, which allows him to copy the form and abilities of anyone he opposes.

Ditto is much more difficult to catch in Pokemon Go because it always fights in its disguise.

So you’ll only find one randomly if you caught the creature in its fake form and it decides to reveal itself afterwards.

How to catch Ditto in Pokemon Go

Well, in this latest event, now is your best chance to catch a Ditto as there will be more of them scattered around and we know exactly what creatures they are hiding as.

They are: Ekans, Gastly, Natu, Surskit, Finneon, Lillipup, Dwebble and Swirlix.

Between 17:00 and 20:00 local time you can expect increased spawns that will come in handy.

And if you’re lucky, there’s a Shiny Ditto to catch too.

The April Fools’ 2-Oh?-22 quest

To unlock the special research quest you have to play Pokemon Go before midnight.

Luckily, once you’ve unlocked it, you can complete it in your own time, so best jump in and claim it while it’s still there.

Below are the steps for this quest and the rewards that await you:

Catch 10 Pokemon – 25 Pokeballs

Catch 5 Normal-type Pokémon – 5 potions

Make 5 nice throws – 5 nanab berries

Rewards: 1000 Stardust, 5 Razz Berries and 15 Ditto Candy

Catch 10 Pokemon – 15 Great Balls

Catch 3 of the Transform Pokémon – 5 Super Potion

Transfer 10 Pokemon – 5 Pinap Berries

Rewards: 1500 XP, 1 Silver Pinap Berry, and 15 Ditto Candies

Step 3 of 3

Claim a reward – 10 Ultra Balls

Claim a reward – 5 hyper potions
