Bjorn Ulvaeus says Lionesses’ use of Abba made Sweden’s defeat more bearable

Bjorn Ulvaeus congratulated England women’s football team on reaching the Euro 2022 final and said using Abba music to celebrate victory over Sweden made the defeat “a little more pleasant”.

Swedish musician who recorded a video message for the Lionesses in which he is wearing his country’s national football kit.

It comes after England won on Tuesday, beating Sweden 4-0 and earning them a spot in Sunday’s final against Germany.

In the video posted on Abba Voyage’s official Instagram page, the singer said: “Dear Lionesses, I am Bjorn from Abba.

“I understand that you celebrated your win earned the day before with Abba’s music and I must say that makes the defeat a little more bearable.

“Congratulations then.”

The post’s caption also congratulated Lionesses on “a well-played game and great musical feel”.

Sunday’s final at Wembley Stadium begins at 5pm.
