Blake Shelton said he decided to leave The Voice US after 12 years as a coach to spend more time with new bride Gwen Stefani and her three children because he didn’t “want to have any regrets”. .
The country star, 46, made the shocking announcement of leaving the US version of the TV talent show earlier this year, being part of the original coaching staff and appearing in all 23 seasons of the NBC show.
Shelton, who married 53-year-old singer Stefani on July 3 last year, met his future wife more than six years ago when they were both coaches on The Voice.
Speaking of leaving the popular TV show, he told People magazine: “The repression for many years made it hard for me to let go. I was here literally from the first minute.
“When I started on The Voice, it was 10 years into my career as a country artist. I never really made it to the A-list of country artists until I became a coach. The show gave me a lot more than I was able to at the time.
“I went beyond anything I thought I could achieve in the entertainment world.”
Shelton revealed he is prioritizing spending time with Stefani and her sons Kingston, 16, Zuma, 14, and Apollo, 8, who she shares with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.
“If I were to give up my career at this point, the only thing I would risk running into would be regretting that I missed out on some of the more important things in life,” he said. Right now, those are our kids. This is not about me anymore and will never be back.

“Even though I am a step-parent, I take that job very seriously. The kids see me as a very important person in their lives. (When they asked) ‘Why isn’t Blake here?’ I remember those things. I’ve made a lot of money, but you can’t buy time back. I don’t want any regrets.
“I’ve had people say, ‘Dude, come on. You won’t quit The Voice (to do) anything!’ But I really… It’s time to let go of some of this (work) and let my family and personal life be more involved.”
He added that he is feeling “settled” since marrying No Doubt singer Stefani and is happiest in Oklahoma with his family.
“We stay away from everything (in Los Angeles), and we are just who we are,” Shelton said. It really feels different. It’s where I feel most comfortable, happy, and safe. Gwen and I did so much traveling, touring, and working out in the first half of our lives that we now think, ‘Hey, I’d be happy to put on tracksuits at 6 p.m. and watch Ozark eight times.
“That’s our life now, and we love it.”
Talking about her marriage, Shelton added: “The relationship we had was very natural and normal. This feels like the easiest thing I’ve ever been into. For me, she is my best friend and everything I need and rely on.”
Since then, the country singer has created the TV game Barmageddon with friend Carson Daly, which has seen many of their celebrity friends, including Elle King and Sheryl Crow, take part in the show. Top bar games.
