Blumhouse’s next Peacock Original is a slasher about a pandemic vacation at the Lake House gone wrong
A pandemic will not stop this killer.
Nearly three years after the global pandemic began, the entertainment industry seems to have taken hold as new pandemic-inspired movies are springing up like wildfire. Fresh off the debut trailer for Deon Taylor’s FEAR, Sick is looking to rekindle the fear of weekend getaways during the height of the pandemic.
Following one of the horror genre’s well-known tropes, Sick plays a young group of friends trying to escape the April 2020 pandemic. Parker and her best friend Miri head to the family bakery to isolate themselves from the rest of the world – or at least they think they are alone.
What continues is a struggle for survival with some COVID-themed twists. Sick will be released on the Peacock streaming platform on January 13, 2022.
The film Sick is backed by a talented roster of directors and writers, with John Hyams (Alone) directing while Kevin Williamson, known for his time on Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, serves as the writer. It stars Gideon Adlon (The Craft: Legacy), Bethlehem Million (And Just Like That), Marc Menchaca (Ozark) and Jane Adams (Twin Peaks).).
For those interested in the pandemic thriller, Sick made his debut at the Fantastic feast in September 2022 and received positive feedback from critics. Needless to say, fans and horror hopefuls won’t have long to wait for the pandemic slasher to hit the Peacock streaming service late next week.
