Bognor man arrested on suspicion of arson after home fire

After a fire in a block of flats, a man has been arrested on suspicion of arson.

Firefighters evacuated families and pets from the Northcliffe Road blaze in Bognor, with 11 people being examined by paramedics after being rescued from the building via ladders.

Residents were evacuated to a nearby Butlins after the fire broke out in the early hours Thursday morning, with no injuries reported.

Officials arrested a 22-year-old Bongor man on suspicion of setting fire with intent to endanger life.

He was conditionally released on bail until March 4.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of what happened, with anyone with information or relevant footage being urged to report it to police online or by calling 101, citing serial number 157 dated 02/02.
