Bognor man convicted of attempting to meet girl for sex

A MAN has been jailed for attempting to meet two young girls for sex after grooming them online.

Martin Garrigan, 32, of Barton Road, Bognor, was arrested by Sussex Police officers at Hotham Park near his home in September 2020.

Garrigan had been waiting to meet two teenage girls but had spoken to adults posing as children online.

He pleaded guilty to attempted sexual contact with children at Lewes Crown Court on June 30.

Garrigan was sentenced to four years in prison and will also be a registered sex offender for life.

He was granted an indefinite Prevention of Sexual Harm Order (SHPO), which severely restricted his access to children and digital communications devices.

Detective Constable Jordan Holmes of Sussex Police said: “Garrigan has openly attempted to meet young girls for sex and may have insisted in this and other ways, but fortunately we received information from members of the public and his activities escalated rapidly completed.” Bognor man convicted of attempting to meet girl for sex
