Bonnie And Clyde Ending Explained: You Made Me Somebody

More of a neoclassical biopic than a thriller, “Bonnie and Clyde” isn’t afraid to paint its typical criminals in a negative light. During their first meeting, Bonnie questions Clyde’s criminal past, accuses him of being a talker, and challenges him to use his gun in a crime. He was hesitant at first, but eventually Clyde pressured and robbed the store to prove himself to a woman he had just met. This act tells us a lot about Clyde and his self-esteem.

Once accused of being “a liar”, he feels pressured to portray Bonnie differently, which is a driving force that continues throughout the film. This interaction hints at a deep self-esteem issue for the young thief, who doesn’t have enough confidence in himself to resist Bonnie and shrugs off her influence. Instead, his crime and violence increase, and his desperate need to prove himself leads to their downfall.

After hooking up with Bonnie, Clyde attempted to rob a bank but failed miserably. Bonnie taunted him by laughing hysterically as they hurried away from the scene. Frustrated and embarrassed, Clyde tried again, this time, with Bonnie at her side. This heist ends up even worse than the last when their amateur driver, CW Moss (Michael J. Pollard), gets stuck in a parking lot, and Clyde shoots a bank employee in the face. so they can escape. This fateful event is the point of no return for the couple, which ultimately determines their fate.
